TES AS MEDICINE: Tea's healing abilities have been known to mankind forever now, so why adulterate it with so canned 'detox' ingredients? Most teatoxing kits combine tea leaves with all-natural ingredients like senna leaf, ginseng root, liquorice root, chrysanthemum, nettle leaves, psyllium seeds, cinnamon bark, cloves, rhubarb, ginger, and lemongrass. While most of these ingredients are natural, their overuse may disrupt the body's natural rhythm.        while the world goes berserk over green tea, black tea(the chinese variety, not the English), oolong, and a tea called pu'er are also potent medicines. In fact, all herbs are medicine, whether they're in the form of 'tea', infusion, tincture, or capsule. One just needs to be careful since some herbs and flowers in teas can trigger allergies. Always read the ingredients on the package before you consume a new herbal tea. Also, tea can only be medicinal and detoxifying if your diet isn't taxing y

BreakFast is not just a meal to satiate your hunger. It is also about feeding the soul and spirit as well. It is in essence a celebration of the joy of eating. In recent times there have been several conversations around breakfast. The Idea is to reconceive breakfast to preserve the virtues and eliminate the vices. Health and nutrition experts have stressed on the need to have a healthy breakfast as it is first meal of the day.

"It is not about how much you eat. the focus should be on how healthy you eat. Steamed food, whole grain cereals, eggs, soy milk, juice without any added sugar or preservatives, can all be included in the list of healthy break- fast." says Sheela B, a  school dietician and nutritionist. The increasing awareness on eating healthy has taken people on the road to organic  food and food products. The ideal combination for healthy breakfast would be a mix of protein and fibre. You can get your dose of protein from eggs, meat and soya bean. Cereals contains a good amount of fibre, are extremely nutritious and fill your stomach just enough without making you feel too full. Here are a few healthy breakfast options that can easily be incorporated in your daily routine.

OATMEAL AND CEREALS:
Cereals are gluten free, rich in fibre, and a good source of magnesium. They are a natural source of phosphorous and also contain fatty acids, iron, zinc, iodine and vitamin E. Oats are among the most popular cereals for breakfast. They are rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, folate, and potassium. They are also a good source of carbs and fiber and loaded with minerals and antioxidant plant compounds.

GREEK YOGHURT:
Made by straining whey and other liquid from milk curds, that produces a creamier yogurt concentrated in protein. It is said to reduce feeling of hunger and has a higher thermic effect than fat or carbs. Yogurt and other dairy products can also help with weight control because they increase levels of hormones that promote fullness.

BERRIES:
Like wine, berries protect your body with powerful anti-carcinogenic nutrients- anthocyans that are believed to play a role in cell repair. They help you get your dose of vitamin C and folic acid.

NUTS:
Nuts are high in fat, how in carbs and a great source of  several nutrients, including vitamin E, magnesium, and selenium. They are packed with antioxidants. Nuts contain antioxidants known as polyphenols, which may protect your cells and "bad" LDL cholesterol from damage caused by free radicals. They are a great addition to your breakfast as they are filling and prevent gain.

HONEY:
It is low in vitamins and minerals but may be high in some plant compounds. Honey contains a number of antioxidants, including phenolic compounds like flavonoids. Honey seems to have a positive effect on cholesterol levels. It leads to modest reductions in total and "bad" LDL cholesterol while raising "good" HDL cholesterol. Replacing sugar with honey in your breakfast cereals and beverages can keep your sugar levels in check.
